We have been so lucky with the weather this year! 2020 has shown me that we do have a great outdoors that we can enjoy without getting wet and miserable!
At work, we can get so wrapped up in our day to day work that we can’t think freely. We only think in the bounds of what we know! Children clearly do not do this!
They have no hesitation in talking about things that may offend or require the wildest imaginations! Just going for a walk allows them to use their imagination and some knowledge they may have gained from somewhere without even trying.
We walked past some chopped trees and my eldest started counting the rings telling me how you count the age of trees! It’s amazing what you can discuss when you take yourself out of the square that is our daily lives!
One of the things great businesses do is to encourage time away from the office, but in a world of remote working, how do leaders manage this? How do you balance individual freedom out of the home office without meeting up and coming back with great ideas? I think encouraging your team to go into the great outdoors guilt-free during office hours is something that will really help you and your business thrive!
