Eating together

Eating together is truly connection time

I didn’t realise the foundation of eating together was so vital to a great family connection. Especially when you have young children and they all have different tastes and aversions. It just makes sene to eat together even when the food has a slight difference.

As someone who has lead a team, nothing bought us together like a team meal, or sharing food on a team away day. It didn’t have to be anything special, it just provided an understanding that you wouldn’t catch behind a computer or on the side of the desk.

You can learn about your colleagues cultures, languages, hobbies, interest all through food and the dialogue of sharing whether you enjoy eating or not; the human spirit is always generous.

As manic as it is, I avoid kids eating alone. As their ages are changing, hobbies growing and needing more time, everyone having a different schedule, we still need to sit with each other as we eat. Screens can take over but the nutrition we gain from eye contact and relationships stay the same.

How often do you eat with your team?
